How are product ratings calculated?
The total of all product ratings completed will be computed into an overall product score. Each product is rated on Installation/Implementation, Documentation/manuals, Usability, Service & Support and Value for price. For example, if your product received the following rating the over all product score would be listed as 4 ½ stars.
Installation/Implementation – 4 stars
Documentation/manuals – 4 stars
Usability – 5 stars
Service & Support – 5 stars
Value for price – 4 stars
There are no anonymous ratings and ISVs will not be able to rate their own products. VARs and Customers with a valid ISV Central membership and login will be able to rate the products.
How are products sorted in the product search?
The Sort Order for product returns is based on a SQL Free Text Search algorithm. We search Product Name, Company Name, and the Product Short and Long Descriptions. The more times your description contains the keywords being searched (or variations of them), the higher your ranking. You cannot receive a higher ranking other than by changing the product descriptions.
How is the renewal and registration key information posted to ISV Central?
We are currently working on creating a file format (XML) to automate the process of uploading ISV renewal and registration keys to our site. Initially we estimate it will take between 2-5 hours, on the part of the ISV, to complete the setup process. Once the setup is complete the renewal and registration key information will be updated automatically to ISV Central.
If I’m a member of ISV Central how many products and/or contacts can I list on the site?
ISVs can list an unlimited number of products and contacts. VARs can list an unlimited number of contacts.
Is it possible to upgrade from a normal ISV to the Optional ISV Sync Service?
Yes. You can sign up as an ISV and then later add the ISV Sync Service.
Is there a membership contract period?
No. ISV Central memberships are month-to-month and can be cancelled at any time.
What information does the product search check when running a search?
The product search checks the Company Name, Product Name, and Product Descriptions for the keyword entered in the product search field.
What is the ISV Sync Service?
Many ISVs are overwhelmed with the task of keeping up-to-date with their own product information being listed correctly (and often in duplication) with ISV Central. With this optional service, ISV Central will establish a custom plan with an ISV to check the ISV’s website or portal periodically for updates, and then upload the new information to ISV Central. ISV Central will check the plan weekly or on demand if the ISV publishes a known update and informs us of such a change
What's a Customer?
A Customer is a company that owns a version of Microsoft Dynamics GP, and usually other ISV products (also called 3rd-party products). Because most VARs and ISVs also use Microsoft Dynamics GP, they are also considered customers.
What's a VAR?
A Value Added Reseller is a firm that implements and supports enterprise software and associated ISV products.
What's an ISV?
An Independent Solution Vendor offers add-on products to complete your enterprise software package, such as Great Plains. ISVs enhance or extend the core product to bring a more complete solution to your business.
Where does the product information listed come from?
Please note our search launched July 1, 2007. The initial content of product listings was obtained by our research from websites, trade show manuals, and other public listings. Once ISVs become members of ISV Central, the product database will grow and become more accurate.
Which currencies will ISV Central accept for renewals and new orders?
ISV Central is multicurrency functional and will accept the US dollar, Canadian dollar, Australian dollar, British pound and the Euro.
Who has access to download ISV products?
VARs and Customers with an active ISV Central membership and login will have access to download software.
Who has access to the product search?
The product search is available to the public. You do not need to be an ISV Central member to use the product search.
