ISV Central Roadmap

We’ve got plans. BIG plans. And it’s all about building community. ISV Central provides dynamic value by creating an avenue for partners to excel with one another.

"A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
Margaret Mead

Step 2: Share stuff you already share, but in a common language and a centralized place.
ISV Central is not a replacement for your business processes. It's an augmentation. A layer that adds value in so many ways.

Consider this classic example. Tectura (a VAR) owns a customer named ABC Rentals. ABC Rentals owns Microsoft Dynamics and four integrating ISV solutions from Mekorma, Encore, EthoTech, and Rockton. The maintenance for ABC Rental’s complete solution is due in April. Around January, each of the four ISVs sends Tectura an invoice for their portion of the system renewal. So Tectura receives 4 invoices in random formats, at random times, and tries to compile them for their customer. When successful, Tectura bills the customer and then sends four payments, one to each ISV.

What if, moving forward, each of these ISVs simply provided the data for these renewal invoices to ISV Central? What if ISV Central could make a simple list for Tectura that shows all the product renewals in one spot, in one format, with one grand total to charge the customer?

What? Share data? You bet. Notice that the renewal invoice information that Mekorma posts to ISV Central is ONLY seen or viewed by Tectura, Mekorma, and ABC Rentals. Likewise, the Encore renewal information is only seen by Tectura, Encore, and ABC Rentals. You aren’t sharing anything new that you haven’t already shared with these companies.

As an ISV, you may wonder how much extra work it would be to provide this information. It isn’t much. ISV Central will provide a simple data template (XML or CSV file format) that will take you a couple hours one time to set up a query of your existing accounting data. With simple automation, you will securely upload that information daily.

VARs can simply subscribe to VOICE’s Offline Customer List and send that in. It’s pretty simple really. With huge payoffs.

With these few steps, ISVs have driven huge value to VARs. VARs can now see in a snapshot all the customer information consolidated in one place. VARs like doing business with ISVs who make their lives easier.

Now consider this next example. ABC Rentals is now upgrading from Microsoft Dynamics GP version 9.0 to 10.0. Imagine if Tectura can log into ISV Central and see the paid registration keys for all four of those ISV products in one simple list? Can you put a value tag on that? Ask any VAR – they’ll tell you. What’s better for a VAR, getting those keys in one spot at 2am Saturday morning during the hectic upgrade or waiting until Monday to call each ISV and beg for keys?

Imagine if you could also list quotes for new product sales. Or how about current invoices for new product sales? The more you consider it, the more valuable it becomes.

Again, partners are not sharing data that they haven’t already shared with one another. There is no new “trust” relationship to build here. It’s just centralizing what we already know into one format for the benefit of all.
